Collaborate Instruments | Physical ComputingTask was to create different musical instruments
by using sensors connected to an iCubeX, hardware run with Max/ MSP
Software
![]() ![]() ![]() The chosen theme was the solar system. My group choose the sun as a concept, and a airtight sphere made of different layers of plastic was blow-moulded. Inside was two candles burning an limited amount of oxygen to mimic the suns life-span. Thin straws for blowing created solar storms interpreted as shifts in musical loops. Matches could be probed to create violent solar flares that created a heavy base rhythm. When the candles had burned all the air inside, a mixture of building up heat and lowered light made the music crescendo. Sensors used was photodiode (quick, small banded light sensor), Photoresistor (relative slow and wide banded light sensor), Thermistor (relative slow, wide banded temperature sensor) History of electronic musical instruments: http://www.obsolete.com/120_years/ Also see the Saturn Instrument Posted: Søn. - Mars 5, 2006 at 04:21 PM |
