The Snøball Project 2005

Since global warming no longer are a bad sci-fi nightmare or something that is due to happen after our lifetime, and actually is happening right now, right here.

A part of a interactive exhibition on the subject winter

Since the greenhouse effect or global warming as its called these days no longer are a bad sci-fi nightmare or something that is due to happen after our lifetime, and actually is happening right now, right here.

We want to tell the story of all the small things that for us is remembered as "winter". Not before the war or in the stone-age, but only 20 years ago, when we were kids cowered with snow up to our red noses.

The land of Santa Claus and his reindeers in november 2005.

A lot of people now say "we should not scale down consumption of fossil fuels, instead we should use the economical growth to handle the climate change"
Well, how do you recreate artificially the kids play in the snow?? Is the need for driving your car to the shopping mall more important than building a snowman?

And this is only childs-play, I haven't mentioned the more fundamental changes that is happening, like cods disappearing, nominating the famous Bacalao for the history books together with the polar-bear. Economical the impacts are already showing, the alpine facilities this year is a month due. Heavy rain creates lavines and destruction.. And so on and so on....

We will exhibit the feeling of mismatch between "good 'ol days" when winter was white and snow was for real, and the cybersnow. Technology vs. Reality. Nothing beats the real thing!
