INSTALLATION
We used to throw
snow at each other in the schoolyard for hours, we wouldnt stop until our toes
were cold as ice and our fingers would feel like burning when we got
indoors.
SNØBALL
…is
a physical game that mimics the ancient play of snowball
throwing.
The rapid use of
fossil energy has the side effect that the traditional norwegian winter with a
lot of snow is a seldom experience for todays and tomorrows
kids.
We have created a
physical video-game as a
substitute.
Motion-detecting
cameras track an artificial snowball containing electronics as it hits the
classical school-yard target on a wall. A video projector creates a projection
of a "snow ball" impact. The bubble-wrap snowballs are warm to hold in the
hands, but they have a cool winter glow, recreating bright
winter-days.
